16.3.1. Peer Review Workflow
The workflow for Peer Review is as follows:
The responsible radiologist first verifies a report for a study.
A set of verified reports are randomly chosen for Peer Review within a certain time period.
3. The peer reviewer receives a verified report to view and decides to agree or disagree with the original radiologist based on the ACR scoring shown below:
[1] Concur: Agree with the verifier
[2] Disagree: Difficult diagnosis, not ordinarily expected to be made
[3] Disagree: Diagnosis should be made most of the time
[4] Disagree: Diagnosis should be made almost every time—misinterpretation of findings
4. If there is concurrence, peer review is complete. If there is disagreement, the case is forwarded to the Quality Improvement (QI) committee.
5. QI committee determines which radiologist made the correct diagnosis and the patient is contacted for any changes in medical treatment if necessary.
